Formal Assessement - Patient and Colleague Feedback
Every five years the General Medical Council (GMC) require all doctors to Revalidate, in addition to their formal annual Appraisals.
As part of this, Patient Feedback and Colleague Feedback (fellow Consultants and also Support Staff) exercises are necessary
At Spire Hospitals, this is organised as anonymous surveys by a specialist company, Edgcumbe Doctor 360
Patient Feedback
My feedback was conducted in a sample of my outpatients, at Spire Bushey, in July and August 2024. Patients were invited to assess me in three different ways:
1. In a series of 19 questions from a score of 1 (not effective) to 6 (extremely effective)
2. Whether they would recommend me to friends and family (Yes/No)
3. To add any comments
In the 19 questions, overall I scored 5.9/6 with 90% of all answers being a "6" (extremely effective) and 8% being a "5" (very effective) with only a single score of "4" (effective), and none less than that.
All the patients said that they would recommend me to friends and family (a single patient did not answer that section). The full dataset can be seen by clicking on the "button" below:
Many added comments, and all of the comments are listed below:
Colleague Feedback
In a large number of questions, Colleagues were asked a multitide of questions, each relating to GMC Good Medical Practice Guidelines. On a rating, scored form 1 to 6, from Not Effective to Extremely Effective, Support Staff rated me as 5.725/6 (95% effective) and Consultant Staff rated me as 6.0/6.0 overall (100% effective) Self assessment was also required!
